My Passion Project Reflection

What is a passion project?

So a passion project is something you love doing so let's break it down passion then project. What does passion mean? A passion is something you love doing maybe something you have always wanted to do but just never got the chance. Now, what is a project? A project is something you are working on an individual or collaborative enterprise that is carefully planned to achieve a particular aim.

  

So For those that don’t know what I am doing for passion project I was to design and make a dress using a sewing machine. So mum rang up a lady called Judy flower from sew smart she owns a business and teaches kids and adults how to sew. mum said that I was to make a dress and Judy said that it takes a few years to actually learn how to make a proper dress so she said that it would be better to start off making a skirt so I agreed. 

So I started taking sewing classes with Judy at sew smart and I kind of had for the first session to make a bunny and a pin cushion just to like learn about the sewing machine and how it works and it seems to be pretty easy now. The next session I was able to start and finish the skirt and I was very pleased so I have continued to take sewing classes it’s so much fun. Mum and dad might be getting me a sewing machine for my birthday.

My Passion Project

my passion project is to make a dress because I am very creative so this is what I am going to do.

I have a cousin to help me he is hoping to be a fashion designer. he makes women's dresses because apparently, men's clothing is much harder to make than womens. I will be taking sewing classes with my mum so that I will be able to put the dress together myself. we've got at the home of my nanas so I am really excited to use it. the brand for the dress I am going to make is The Daisy Dress. I was going to call it The Maxi Dress but I thought The Daisy dress suits it more.

at the moment it's only part 2 and we are pitching our idea to a group of people.

My feelings before Muru raupatu Marae

I feel nervous going to a marae. Probably because I have never been to one .It's scary but exciting at the same time nervous. I'm scared I am going to do something wrong. But it will because so much fun a new experience for me and lots of others. Being and sleeping at a marae will be a bit unusual but awesome. We stay in a big house in one big room. My inference is that some/most people won't get to sleep.you don't know how many are coming. Anyways my mum,Tahlia and kaed is coming out with me at five o'clock till 9:00 I am staying the night. I am bringing a very warm blanket and a sleeping bag with a duvet underneath. I will be as warm as a cuddly bear. And when I say bear I mean a soft toy bear. ( just to let you know in case of a real bear )

We have all have done a bit of research  about the marae so we are going to hopefully know what there saying and doing. How exciting for the 3rd time probably.

So right now I have given you my before thoughts about the marae. So I will be giving you what I thought about the marae after I've been.I hope your all interested and there will be another blog post posted in the next few days. So better go check it out.

Book 3 My Night Tearer

Lately I have started a story based on a dream and it is book 3 in the series The lost family I am going very good and I have almost finished book 3 , and I would like to show you guys my progress.

I have got my story down below. I will only be showing you book 3 because that book is what I am most proud of.

Why am I writing : I am writing this series because I like to make other people laugh and to let them know how I feel sometimes with my family.

                             ,   Book 3 My Night Tearer

As I am carrying on with my dream from the door behind me. In  sudden shock I see a coffin in a warm room even though her body is cold blood . Once I take a closer look  the body is dead but killed ,blood drips from down beneath her skin. Know one knew who she was,  know one knew what happened, it was like a shadow from the past.  As i look over  the dreadful looking lady glared and that was when I had to call someone. She went straight to the ambulance to save herself from her loss.

A day later ….

3 hours later

Sadly she said we are not able to save her a gun had shot in the ribs and she is now not able to ever breathe again.  

I got home after that she was not a family member at all but not even a friend of ours I felt sorry for the unknown young/old ladie. My eyes bursted into emotional tears my heart turned to brick but half of it cracked off.

( lexi is thinking this…)  I think my brain broke into tears and I feel like I’m going to faint it’s too much of a dreadful story.

Oh My GOSH ! Camp

Camp is here I can't believe it I've been waiting 5 weeks for this. Hope the weather is nice. We are going to Te wera out in eltham it's a bit of a drive but that's all right. 

We are sleeping in cabins I am in a cabin with jaylin and kalissa . Other girls are in a cabin with 10 and that is a lot , I am really happy with my cabin. We are going to have so much fun.

I am bringing a big suitcase and it is full to the top it's handy so  I don't Have to bring any spare bags apart from my school bag. I am really excited..... See you after the awesome time I'm gonna have !!!! 

Reflecting On The Year 6 Tu Kaha

I am doing this blog entry so that I am able to show my grandparents and my dad because he didn’t get to come and people out in the world people in the world that don’t have whakangaos/assembleys and don’t get badges and that it might be an idea for them.

Tu Kaha means to me that if I commit to things I don’t pull out of the situations. I’m positive not negative and when I’m in the learning pit I climb the hill and try not to fall down and never give up. Failer is my greatest key to success it was just a mistake and I can learn from that.  And it’s to love yourself for who you are don’t take yourself or anyone else for granted.

hi my friend and i ( Ava and Amayah) have made a video using screen casetify and we are talking about how we want to make a positive for our learning environment for all the kids next year so they can have there own independent spaces, collaborative spaces, presentation, space, quiet space, art space and most coolest and important the building space that we hope to extend. we hope all the people that watch this enjoy it and understand it. please give us and email or give us comment if you have some feedback or have some ideas.

My knowledge goal

Today I have practiced my knowledge goal ( understanding decimals) because it was my priororitiy. This photo is showing you how I have worked it out. So example:  it was 44.8 x 10 = 448 because it's in tens so you just look at it and you know the answer even if it was a big one like 444.5 x 10 = 4445 it's the same working out.

My math through the years haven't been too good but I have been trying my hardest to improve. I maybe still be on my threes and four times tables but that doesn't mean I can't improve. And that's what I have been trying to do this year and last year. I still haven't gotten my math up to standard this year but my teachers have been great. They have teached me so many Strategy's different ways to work out problems, and I don't know how many, that's how much there is they have teached me. It's just so fun and easy to work out these problems. But then of course there is always a challenge somewhere is the workshop with either of the teachers Mrs Mc A or Mr A. which is good because i learn new things and then that means my nearons are connecting because I've learnt something new. 

So this year is probably  my best year in math and i feel very releved but I've still go so much to learn yet and I'm still a bit behind but I'll catch up.

Quick write

My quick write

I have written a quick write on docs. A quick write is where you have a topic and it only takes you about half an hour to finish it so it’s kind of a challenge or it could take a few days. Anyways since it’s called a quick write you type fast and you do everything fast. It’s fun.

I have written a quick write. There were three topics and I choose the one that said do you remember your first best friend and what did you do together. I did my first best friend from school she is called she is a great friend we may have some fights sometimes but we get over it pretty quickly.  And + me and Ava have a fight and then i have to go and sorry it’s like i can’t be without her for a second. Anyway make a comment on my blog if you have done quick write it would be cool. Hope you know what a quick write is.

Multiply a 2 Didgt Number By Ten

I've just got a new goal about a week ago and its really easy so thats why I'm going to change it heres an example: so say if you were told by your teacher that you had to work out this 5x10=50 50x10=500 with the 5x10 its 50 and you use that for the answer for 50x10 its 500 you have add another 0.

How My Writing Has Changed

My writing has changed from a few months ago I have learned so much through the terms and I remember almost everything.

Mr A has taught me how to show not tell in my writing.It’s made my writing sound more effective and interesting.

At the start of the year I didn’t know how to use show not tell and I just couldn’t think what to write about and now I just makeup a descriptive piece of writing and it gets me interested in my writing. It also gets me stuck into my writing let’s just say it get’s my brain working.

Show Not Tell

Through the past weeks I have been going to workshops on show not tell. Which means say if you have got to write about the forest you wouldn’t say I heard people walking behind me. That’s not show not tell because you’re telling the reader that someone was walking behind you. So you have  actually got to show the reader not tell the reader so we will turn that little sentence into I heard footsteps creeping up to me. I just showed you what happened not told you what happened. I think it’s better when you write a story and you use show not tell because probably the reader gets more interested. Because when you tell someone something it takes so long and the person that has to listen to it they would probably almost fall asleep and to be fair I would feel sorry them. So next time when you guys write a story try use show not tell it will 1 make you’re writing better and sound better and 2 the reader that obviously reads it will get hooked into the story and same will you. Understanding Tenths (Decimal Numbers)

Last week on friday we had our last workshop on understanding tenths  ( Decimal numbers) We worked on this workshop on thursday two and got problem  work.

I have really enjoyed the workshop because I have always wanted to learn about decimals and before that workshop  even happened I didn’t  know what decimal was and now I do.

Heres an example to show that I know. So 16/10  you would take the 10 away and then you are left with 16 so you put a dot in the middle which is could a point  and then it is 1.6 you just break it up but if it was 3/10 it has to be 0.3   because you take the 1 of the 10 and you are left with 0 and 3 so  put a dot in the middle and then the answer will be 0.3 as I showed before. when it’s a tenth you have to put a 0 infront of the number but when it’s a 2 digit number you take the whole tenth away and then you are left with your two digit number say 18 you go like this put the dot in the middle then the answer will be 1.8 so it’s still 18 but you just broke number up.
